A NEW councillor has been named to fill the Tucker Ward vacancy after the resignation of David Feldman.
Henry Buch has been nominally elected as the new representative for Glen Eira Council's southern ward.
The Victorian Electoral Commission conducted a countback of votes from the 2005 election at 11am from its Melbourne headquarters on Friday.
The countback cost Glen Eira $632.70.
Mr Buch accepted the position last Friday afternoon.
The Tucker Ward role became vacant after Mr Feldman resigned in April ("Going, going, gone", Leader, April 29) after missing five ordinary council meetings.
Mr Feldman said his resignation was due to "personal and family reasons".
Glen Eira Mayor Steven Tang said he would work closely with the new councillor to ensure a thorough induction process took place.
Mr Buch served as a councillor for the City of Stonnington from 1999-2002.
Glen Eira's newest councillor will only have a short time to work with the existing council before facing the local government elections in November.
Mr Buch was unavailable for comment last week.
The official declaration will be this Thursday, May 22 at 2pm at the Glen Eira Town Hall
